Tenure of RBI Working Group on BPLR extended
The Reserve Bank of India has today extended the tenure of the Working Group on Benchmark Prime Lending Rate (BPLR) by one more month, from end-August 2009 to end-September 2009. The Reserve Bank had constituted the Group on June 19, 2009 under the Chairmanship of Shri Deepak Mohanty, Executive Director to review the BPLR system. RBI and 926 branches of Banks to accept Advance Income Tax
As many as 926 computerised branches of public and private sector banks will receive advance income tax in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. These arrangements have been made for the convenience of the income tax assesses. Of the 926 bank branches 862 branches are public sector bank branches, 35 HDFC bank branches, 10 ICICI bank branches and 19 AXIS bank branches. Proposed Terms of Reference of the Working Group on BPLR - Comments by June 19, 2009
The concept of Benchmark Prime Lending Rate (BPLR) was introduced in November 2003 for pricing of loans by commercial banks with the objective of enhancing transparency in the pricing of their loan products. RBI and 965 branches of Banks to accept Advance Income Tax
As many as 965 computerised branches of public and private sector banks will receive advance income tax in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. These arrangements have been made for the convenience of the income tax assesses. Of the 965 bank branches 900 branches are public sector bank branches, 36 HDFC bank branches, 10 ICICI bank branches and 19 AXIS bank branches. All the branches of State Bank of Saurashtra will now function as branches of State Bank of India. Customers, including depositors, of State Bank of Saurashtra will be able to operate their accounts as customers of State Bank of India.The Government of India has issued the Acquisition of State Bank of Saurashtra Order 2008.
