Installation/Updation Instructions

To install a fresh NRD-CSR Version 3.0 or to upgrade existing NRD-CSR
application to its new Version in a Personal Computer of a bank branch
or nodal/head office, follow the following steps....

1. Insert the NRD-CSR install floppy in the floppy drive A:

2. Ensure that MS-DOS prompt is ready
[For PC running on Windows System, invoke MS-DOS prompt to set the PC
   in with MS-DOS prompt.]

3. Instead of the Step 2 above, it can also be installed in a Windows PC
using 'Run' option under 'Start' Menu.

4. Type 'a:\install <Destination Drive>:' and press Enter Key to install
the application in the Destination Drive as specified after the word
install. For loading into the Drive C use A:install C: [Do not add
   \ after C:]

5. It will install the NRD-CSR application in the <Destination Drive>\NRD-CSR
Directory of your PC and configure an empty database if fresh installation
   is required.
In case of upgrade, it will do the necessary changes in the existing
NRD-CSR system and return to OS. Your database will be upgraded to the new
version on logging into it. For fresh installation proceed further.

6. While configuring your database during installation process, it will ask
you to specify type of installation i.e. BRANCH database or a HEAD/NODAL
OFFICE database. Please enter correct information to configure your desired
database. [It is possible to add another database of any type i.e. BRANCH
or HEAD/ NODAL -OFFICE subsequently.]. However, it cannot change the
the type of database after installation and configuration.

7. In case you provide wrong code, installation will abort. In such case,
you may use the following command to install a blank database.
                  C:\NRD-CSR> NRD-CSR install
This will allow you to come back to step 5 above and ask for correct code.

8. You will be asked to enter details of your site. Please follow the
instructions given on the screen. You need to enter all other information
about responsible officer with contact details etc. This information will be
transferred automatically to your head office and also to the RBI.

9. Please note, you have to specify reference period of the initial database
too. It will be in the format "YYYYMM". For example "200601" is to be entered in
case of January 2006, as the initial month.

10.Next you will be asked to specify little information about Auto generation
of Interest re-investment transactions for cumulative fixed A/c and Savings
A/c. Please see the manual for details.

11. On successful installation, it will generate 'Installation Report' in a
text file. This is to be printed and faxed to the higher up (nodal office in case
of branch and head office in case of nodal office).

12. First time, after installation, there will be only one user of type system
Manager will be defined. For a Branch or Nodal office, user code will be
'm<nnnnnnn>' [nnnnnnn] is the Part I code]. For a Head office user code
will be 'm[nnnnn]' where 'nnnnn' is the Bank Working Code specified during
configuration of the database. Password set during configuration of any
database is same as user code. You should change the password immediately
     after installation for security reasons.
