About the Event
Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Central Bank of the country, entered its 90th year on April 01, 2024. As part of various events being conducted by RBI to commemorate the salient milestone of RBI@90, a team from RBI, led by Dr. Michael D Patra, Deputy Governor, conducted a ‘Seminar on Monetary Policy’ on August 23, 2024, at PSG College of Arts & Science in Coimbatore. The event also commemorated MPD@25 – the 25 years’ journey of its Monetary Policy Department (MPD). The event was organised by the Monetary Policy Department (MPD) in coordination with the RBI Chennai Regional Office. The objective of the event was to engage with students and research scholars to impart knowledge on the monetary policy framework of the Reserve Bank of India and to build awareness on the recent developments related to monetary policy and Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decisions.
In the meeting, DG (MDP) made a presentation to the students, faculty, and management of the college on various aspects of monetary policy making in India. This was followed by presentations on the evolving domestic and global growth and inflation scenarios, developments in monetary policy transmission, the MPC outlook for growth and inflation and the MPC decisions on monetary policy.
