The Reserve Bank of India has a long history of compiling and disseminating macro-economic time series on various sectors of the Indian economy for researchers, market participants and various other stakeholders. The Handbook of Statistics on the Indian Economy is a flagship publication of the Reserve Bank, which provides long historical time series data on a wide range of financial and economic indicators. This publication is released in printed form every year in the month of September.

The Handbook is also made available through the online database viz., Database on Indian Economy (DBIE) on the Reserve Bank's website (http://dbie.rbi.org.in). Users can access the data for the latest time period from this site as the data tables in the DBIE are updated regularly and maintained up-to-date. Recognising our responsibility towards conservation, the coverage of data in print version has been restricted to the latest time periods, while the longer historical data series have been provided in electronic form.
