The Reserve Bank of India has a long history of disseminating macro-economic time series on various sectors of the Indian economy for researchers, market participants and various other stakeholders. The Handbook of Statistics on the Indian Economy is a flagship publication of the Reserve Bank, which provides long time-series data on a wide range of financial and economic indicators.

The Handbook is also made available through the online database viz., Database on Indian Economy (DBIE) on the Reserve Bank’s website (https://dbie.rbi.org.in), where it is updated regularly. The coverage of data in the print version has been restricted to relatively shorter time periods, while longer historical data series have been provided in electronic form.

I trust that the users will find this Handbook and the online database helpful for research, reference and other purposes. We will constantly strive for improvement in the coverage, content and timely dissemination of data. We welcome your feedback.
