RBI reiterates legal tender status of ₹ 10 coins of different designs
It has come to the notice of the Reserve Bank that in certain places there is reluctance on part of traders and members of public to accept ₹ 10 coins due to suspicion about their genuineness. It is clarified that the Reserve Bank puts into circulation, the coins minted by mints, which are under the Government of India. RBI says it uses sophisticated machines for processing currency notes
It has been reported in a section of the press, quoting a reply to RTI application, that RBI was not using machines for counting Specified Bank Notes (SBNs). RBI to ramp up supply of ₹ 200 notes shortly

RBI Clarifies On Quality Control Measures In Currency Note Printing
The process and system followed for production of Indian banknotes are at par with the best practices adopted globally. In line with the same, banknote quality is maintained well within the various tolerance parameters for dimension, placement of design, print features etc. The currency printing presses are equipped with state of the art machinery, documented systems and technically qualified personnel through which quality control is ensured at each stage of banknote

There had been various estimates on SBNs tendered in certain sections. We would like to clarify that the periodical SBN figures released by us were based on aggregation of accounting entries done at the large no of Currency Chests all over the country. Now that the Scheme has come to an end on December 30, 2016, these figures would need to be reconciled with the physical cash balances to eliminate accounting errors/ possible double counts etc. RBI has already initiate
