Today, the Reserve Bank released data relating to India’s International Investment Position  for end-December 2023[1]. [1] India’s quarterly IIP is disseminated with a lag of one quarter and the previous quarterly IIP for end-September 2023 was released in the RBI website on December 29, 2023.

Preliminary data on India’s balance of payments (BoP) for the third quarter (Q3), i.e., October-December 2023-24, are presented in Statements I and II. Key Features of India’s BoP in Q3:2023-24 India’s current account balance recorded a deficit of US$ 10.5 billion (1.2 per cent of GDP) in Q3:2023-24, lower than US$ 11.4 billion (1.3 per cent of GDP) in Q2:2023-24 and US$ 16.8 billion (2.0 per cent of GDP) a year ago [i.e., Q3:2022-23].

Today, the Reserve Bank released data relating to India’s International Investment Position  for end-September 2023

The framework for licensing of Authorised Persons (APs) under FEMA, 1999 was last reviewed in March 2006. Keeping in view the progressive liberalisation under FEMA, increasing integration of the Indian economy with the global economy, digitisation of payment systems, evolving institutional structure, etc. over the last two decades, it has been decided to rationalise and simplify the licensing framework for APs. The review aims to meet the emerging requirements of the rapidly growing Indian economy, achieve operational efficiency in the delivery of foreign exchange facilities to common persons, tourists, and businesses, while maintaining appropriate checks and balances
