Dear Sir,
Detection of Forged Notes -Issue of Receipt to Tenderers
It has been decided that, as and when a currency note tendered at the counter of a bank branch is found to be forged, and the same is impounded by branding with a stamp "FORGED NOTE", an acknowledgement receipt in the following format should be issued to such tenderers. The receipt book should be printed in duplicate with running serial numbers and each receipt should be authenticated by the cashier at the counter as well as by the tenderer.
(Name of the Bank ) Address of the Bank Branch
Serial Number:- Date: The note(s) described below received from …………………………………….. ……………………………………………………………………………………… (name and address of the tenderer) is/are forged and has/have therefore been impounded and stamped accordingly. Number of the Note Denomination
(Signature of the tenderer ) (Signature of the counter cashier ) |
2. Bank branches may also display prominently a notice in the banking hall indicating that a separate receipt will be issued to the tenderers for the forged notes detected in the cash so tendered and after obtaining tenderer’s signature on such receipt. The above information has also been placed in the RBI website( www.rbi.org.in ) for the benefit of general public.
Yours faithfully,
