Security Arrangements for guarding currency chests
Please refer to our circular DCM (S & D) No. 172 / 12.02.29 / 2002-03 dated August 30, 2002 read with circular CO. DAPM. CSC. No. 316 / 15.08.02 / 2004-05 dated February 19, 2005 in terms of which banks have been permitted, in case of non-availability of State Armed Police, as an interim measure, to make their own guarding arrangements for their existing / new currency chests either through own personnel or through reputed/ reliable private security agencies, subject to their ensuring, inter alia, that such private agencies have obtained security clearance from the State Government authorities, both for the agency and persons deployed.
2. Government of India have advised us that henceforth banks may seek only Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) sponsored Ex-servicemen Security Agencies or DGR sponsored State Ex-servicemen Security Corporations for guarding arrangements of currency chests.
