New Ferritic Stainless Steel (FSS) Coin of Rs.5 - "Jagat Guru Sree Narayana Gurudev"
The Reserve Bank of India will shortly put into circulation new Ferritic Stainless Steel coins of Rs.5 issued by Government of India to commemorate "Jagat Guru Sree Narayana Gurudev".
Designs:
Security Edge For Five Rupees: The edge of the coin of Five Rupee shall have security edge on periphery. At the centre of the edge there shall be shallow groove with a design inside the two sections separated by blank spaces. This design shall consist of chain of beads in relief and each bead being followed by one inclined line in relief. There shall be total 30 lines and 30 beads. The Five Rupee coin is a legal tender as provided in the Coinage Act, 1906. The existing Five Rupee Coins in circulation shall also continue to be legal tender.
