The Reserve Bank of India has today reiterated that it never contacts the public via unsolicited phone calls or emails asking for money or any other type of personal information. RBI to issue Non Sequential Numbered Notes in Denomination of ` 1000
In June 2011, RBI had issued ` 500 denomination notes in non-sequential numbering. It has now been decided to issue banknotes of ` 1000 denomination also on similar lines. Packets of Banknotes in non-sequential number will, as usual, have 100 notes. The bands of the packets containing the banknotes in non-sequential number will clearly be superscribed with the legend, “The packet contains 100 notes not numbered sequentially.” R.R. The Reserve Bank of India has today advised members of public to immediately register a complaint with the local police/cyber crime authorities when they receive fictitious offers of money from abroad or if they are victims of such offers. RBI Never asks for Your Bank Account Details
It has come to the notice of the Reserve Bank of India that mail has been sent in its name "inviting bank customers to update their bank account details against online phishing".
