The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue Rs 10/- denomination banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi Series without inset letter in numbering panel bearing the signature of Dr. Y.V. Reddy, Governor. The new series banknotes shall be of the same size and there is no change in the images/design of the banknotes both at the back and front. While some of the security features of the existing Mahatma Gandhi series have been retained, some have been modified and a few new security

RBI to introduce Star series Banknote
The Reserve Bank of India at present issues fresh banknote packets containing one hundred (100) serially numbered banknotes. Each banknote bears a distinctive serial number along with a prefix. The prefix consists of the numeral and a letter/letters and is followed by a serial number. The number e.g. could be 4CC 456917. Restrictive Practices while accepting Banknotes
The Reserve Bank of India has been receiving complaints from the public regarding adoption of restrictive practices such as, forcing the customers to note down their names on the banknotes, listing the note numbers on the bills submitted for payment insisting on undertaking while depositing higher denomination banknotes, etc., by certain public and private sector organisations/institutions, thus causing avoidable harassment to the public. Non-acceptance of Small Coins is an offence: clarifies RBI
The Reserve Bank of India has come across reports that banks are reluctant to accept 50 paise and 25 paise coins.
