Survey on International Trade in Banking Services, 2024-25

Today, the Reserve Bank released the results of 2024-25 round of its survey on international trade in banking services (ITBS). This annual survey focuses on cross-border fund-based banking services (e.g., deposits, credit) as well as financial auxiliary services with explicit/implicit fees/commissions charged by foreign branches/ subsidiaries (including joint ventures) of Indian banks as well as foreign banks operating in India (details of the services are given in the Annex). The latest round of the survey covers 13 Indian banks having overseas branches/subsidiaries and 44 foreign banks having branches/subsidiaries in India.

Today, the Reserve Bank released the results of 2024-25 round of its survey on international trade in banking services (ITBS). RBI imposes monetary penalty on Makarpura Industrial Estate Co-operative Bank Ltd., Vadodara, Gujarat

The Reserve Bank of India (RBl) has, by an order dated September 22, 2025, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹2 lakh (Rupees Two Lakh only) on Makarpura Industrial Estate Co-operative Bank Ltd., Vadodara, Gujarat (the bank) for non-compliance with certain directions issued by RBI on ‘Know Your Customer (KYC)’ and ‘Basic Cyber Security Framework for Primary (Urban) Cooperative Banks (UCBs)’ read with ‘Comprehensive Cyber Security Framework for Primary (Urban) Cooperative Banks (UCBs) – A Graded Approach’.

RBI imposes monetary penalty on The South Canara District Central Co-operative Bank Ltd, Karnataka

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated September 23, 2025, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹1.50 lakh (Rupees One Lakh Fifty Thousand only) on The South Canara District Central Co-operative Bank Ltd, Karnataka (the bank) for non-compliance with certain directions issued by RBI on ‘Housing finance’ read with ‘Enhancement in Individual housing loan limits and credit to Commercial Real Estate - Residential Housing (CRE-RH)’ and contravention of provisions of Section 19 read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 (BR Act). This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers conferred on RBI under the provisions of Section 47A(1)(c) read with Sections 46(4)(i) and 56 of the BR Act.

RBI issues Directions on Framework on Authentication Mechanisms for Digital Payment Transactions

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has today issued Reserve Bank of India (Authentication Mechanisms for Digital Payment Transactions) Directions, 2025. RBI had issued draft directions on Alternative Authentication Mechanisms for Digital Payment Transactions on July 31, 2024 and draft directions on introduction of Additional Factor of Authentication (AFA) in cross-border Card Not Present (CNP) transactions on February 07, 2025, for stakeholder comments.

Supervisory Data Quality Index for Scheduled Commercial Banks (June 2025)

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released Supervisory Data Quality Index (sDQI) for SCBs for June 2025. It measures data quality in terms of the Accuracy, Timeliness, Completeness and Consistency in the submission of returns. The objective of sDQI is to assess the adherence to the principles enunciated in the Master Direction on Filing of Supervisory Returns 2024.
