RBI places Reports of three Working Groups on its website for comments
The Reserve Bank of India has today placed on its website for public comments, reports of three Working Groups. These are : (i) Defraying Costs of ICT Solutions for Regional Rural Banks (RRBs); (ii) Technology Upgradation of Regional Rural Banks; and (iii) IT support for Urban Co-operative Banks. Agricultural Debt Waiver and Debt Relief Scheme, 2008
The Reserve Bank of India today advised scheduled commercial banks (including Local Area Banks) to take necessary action towards implementation of the Agricultural Debt Waiver and Debt Relief Scheme for farmers at the earliest. It has been further advised that implementation of the Scheme should be completed by June 30, 2008.It may be recalled that the Hon’ble Finance Minister, in his Budget Speech (paragraph 73) for 2008-09 had announced a debt waiver and debt relief

Customers can now appeal against the Banking Ombudsman's Decision
Bank customers can now appeal against the decision of the Banking Ombudsman where he has rejected the customer's complaint relating to matters falling within the grounds of complaints specified under the scheme. RBI releases Report of Committee on Financial Sector Plan for NE Region
It may be recalled that, the Reserve Bank of India had, on January 25, 2006, set up a committee to achieve greater financial inclusion and provision of financial services in the North-Eastern region (NER) and also to prepare an appropriate state-specific monitorable action plan for the region. Banking Ombudsman Scheme 1995 - Highlights of its functioning so far
The Reserve Bank of India has published a report on review of the Banking Ombudsman Scheme 1995 for the period 1998-99 to 2001-02. According to this report, the number of complaints received during the periods 1999-2000, 2000-01 and 2001-02 stood at 4994, 5803 and 5907 respectively. Comparable figure for the year 1998-99 (April-March) was 6062. As compared to the complaints received during 1998-99, there is a decrease of 2.5 per cent during 2001-02. The maximum number

To facilitate Indian overseas investment in Nepal in Indian Rupees, Government of India, Ministry of Commerce have announced certain relaxations in the existing norms vide their notification issued on March 26, 1997. The relaxations are: Proposals for Indian Rupee investments in Nepal not exceeding Rs.25 crore will now be considered by the Reserve Bank of India under the Fast Track Route. Such proposals will be considered without any linkage to export/foreign exchange
