Lending and Deposit Rates of Scheduled Commercial Banks - January 2023
Data on lending and deposit rates of scheduled commercial banks (SCBs) (excluding regional rural banks and small finance banks) for the month of January 2023. Highlights: Lending Rates: The weighted average lending rate (WALR) on fresh rupee loans of SCBs increased by 02 basis points (bps) from 8.86 per cent in November 2022 to 8.88 per cent in December 2022. RBI releases Discussion Paper on Securitisation of Stressed Assets Framework (SSAF)
As part of the Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policies released on September 30, 2022, RBI had proposed to introduce a framework for securitisation of stressed assets, in addition to the ARC route. It was announced that a discussion paper detailing relevant contours of the proposed framework would be issued shortly. Action against SBM Bank (India) Ltd., under sections 35 A and 36(1)(a) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949
The Reserve Bank of India has today, in exercise of its powers under sections 35A and 36(1)(a) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, directed SBM Bank (India) Ltd to stop, with immediate effect, all transactions under Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) till further orders. Periodic Updation of KYC details of Customers
The Reserve Bank has, from time to time, taken measures to rationalise the KYC related instructions taking into account the available technological options for enhancing customers’ convenience within the framework prescribed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA) and rules framed thereunder. The process for the periodic updation of KYC (re-KYC) was simplified in May 2021 (Section 38 of RBI Master Direction on KYC). 2. As per the present guidelines,

RBI releases 2022 list of Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs)
State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, and HDFC Bank continue to be identified as Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs), under the same bucketing structure as in the 2021 list of D-SIBs. The additional Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) requirement for D-SIBs was phased-in from April 1, 2016 and became fully effective from April 1, 2019. The additional CET1 requirement will be in addition to the capital conservation buffer. The list of D-SIBs is as follows: Bucket Banks A
