RBI releases Names of Applicants of Small Finance Banks and Payments Banks
The Reserve Bank of India today released the names of applicants of small finance banks and payment banks, stating it received, in its Central Office, 72 applications for small finance banks (Annex I) and 41 applications for payments banks (Annex II). It may be recalled that the guidelines for licensing of “Small Finance Banks” and “Payments Banks”, issued on November 27, 2014, indicated that in order to ensure transparency, the names of the applicants will be placed

RBI signs MoU on “Supervisory Cooperation and Exchange of Supervisory Information” with Banco Central do Brasil
The Reserve Bank of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on “Supervisory Cooperation and Exchange of Supervisory Information” with Banco Central do Brasil (BCB) on December 26, 2014. With this the Reserve Bank has signed 23 such MoUs, one Letter for Supervisory Co-operation and one Statement of Co-operation with overseas regulators/supervisors. The MoU was signed by Mr Anthero de Moraes Meirelles, Deputy Governor for Supervision, BCB and Shri S.S. Mundra,

The Reserve Bank of India, on December 9, 2014, concluded a Statement of Co-operation (SoC) on “Supervisory Cooperation and Exchange of Supervisory Information” with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Office of the Comptroller of Currency and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. RBI extends last date of receipt of applications for Licensing of Small Finance Banks and Payments Banks
The Reserve Bank of India received requests seeking extension of time for submission of applications for Small Finance Banks / Payments Banks, the last date for which was January 16, 2015. Keeping in view the difficulties expressed by various parties, it has been decided to extend the last date of receipt of applications to February 2, 2015.
