Bifurcation of Medinipur district in West Bengal into Purba Medinipur and Paschim Medinipur districts – Assignment of Lead Bank responsibility
The Government of West Bengal have, vide their notification dated December 18, 2001, bifurcated the limits of existing district of Medinipur into two separate districts, namely, Purba Medinipur, with the headquarters at Tamluk and Paschim Medinipur, with the headquarters at Medinipur, with effect from January 1, 2002.
2. It has been decided to assign the Lead Bank responsibility of Purba Medinipur and Paschim Medinipur districts to United Bank of India, which was having lead responsibility of erstwhile Medinipur district.
3. There is no change in the lead bank responsibilities of other districts in the State.
