Exchange of Soiled Notes : RBI adds One More Centre
In an effort to reach out the public, the Reserve Bank of India will now also extend the facility of making available coins of Re.1, Rs. 2, and Rs. 5 and exchanging soiled notes in Vile Parle (E). Members of the public in Vile Parle (E) area may avail this facility at Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Smarak Samiti, Prabodhankar Thackeray Jal - Taran Talav, Shivaji Raje Marg, Kol Dongri, Vile Parle (East), Mumbai-400 057 on every Monday effective from July 5, 1999 between 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. (excluding public holidays). They may also utilise this opportunity for exchange of soiled notes of Re. 1, Rs. 2, and Rs.5 into coins.
It may be recalled that in order to mitigate the hardship faced by the members of the public in obtaining coins, the Reserve Bank of India has made special arrangements to make available coins upto Rs. 800 packed in 'Potlas' of 100 pieces each of Re. 1, Rs. 2, and Rs. 5 in exchange at various centres in Mumbai. In addition a reasonable quantity of 50 paise and 25 paise coins will be available for exchange at these centers.
