Exchange of Soiled Notes : RBI adds two More Centres
In an effort to reach out the public, the Reserve Bank of India will now also extend the facility of making available coins of Re.1, Rs. 2, and Rs. 5 and exchanging soiled notes in Ghatkopar (W) and Bhandup (W). Members of the public in these areas may avail this facility at State Bank of India, Ashok Silk Mills Compound, Opp. Damodhar Park, L.B.S. Marg, Ghatkopar (West), Mumbai on Thursday, July 15, 1999 and Bank of Baroda, Station Road, Bhandup (West), Mumbai-400 078 on Friday, July 16, 1999 and thereafter every Thursday and Friday respectively between 10.30 am and 1.00 p.m. (excluding public holidays). They may also utilise this opportunity for exchange of soiled notes of Re. 1, Rs. 2, and Rs.5 into coins.
It may be recalled that in order to mitigate the hardship faced by the members of the public in obtaining coins, the Reserve Bank of India has made special arrangements to make available coins upto Rs. 800 packed in 'Potlas' of 100 pieces each of Re. 1, Rs. 2, and Rs. 5 in exchange at various centres in Mumbai. In addition a reasonable quantity of 50 paise and 25 paise coins will be available for exchange at these centers.
