Rs.500 denomination notes (AP Series) continue to be legal tender
It has been brought to the notice of the Reserve Bank of India, that some cashiers of commercial and co-operative banks do not accept Rs.500 denomination notes of Ashoka Pillar (AP) Series, i.e., the notes with Ashoka Pillar Watermark. Members of the public are requested to note that all Rs.500 denomination notes continue to be legal tender and shall be freely accepted by banks and the Reserve Bank of India in settlement of transactions.
If any bank is not accepting these notes, the members of the public are requested to bring the same to the notice of the Regional Director of the Reserve Bank's concerned office or to the Chief General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Department of Currency Management, Central Office, Shahid Bhagat Singh Road, Mumbai.
