The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated February 6, 2024, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹63.30 lakh (Rupees Sixty-Three Lakh and Thirty Thousand only) on Bombay Mercantile Co-operative Bank Ltd. (the bank) for non-compliance with the directions issued by RBI on ‘Exposure Norms and Statutory / Other Restrictions – UCBs’, ‘Gold Loan – Bullet Repayment - UCBs’ and ‘Unclaimed Deposits and Inoperative/ Dormant Accounts in UCBs’. This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers conferred on RBI under section 47A(1)(c) read with sections 46(4)(i) and 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.

This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers conferred on RBI under the provisions of section 47A(1)(c) read with sections 46(4)(i) and 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.

This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers conferred on RBI under the provisions of clause (b) of sub-section (1) of section 58G read with clause (aa) of sub-section (5) of section 58B of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 (RBI Act).

This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers vested in RBI under the provisions of clause (b) of sub-section (1) of section 52A read with clause (aa) of sub-section (3) of section 49 of the National Housing Bank Act, 1987.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated January 29, 2024, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹5.00 lakh (Rupees Five lakh only) on Bajaj Housing Finance Limited, Pune (the company) for non-compliance with certain provisions of the ‘Non-Banking Financial Company - Housing Finance Company (Reserve Bank) Directions, 2021’ issued by the RBI. This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers conferred on RBI under the provisions of section 47A(1)(c) read with sections 46(4)(i) and 56 of the BR Act.

This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers conferred on RBI under the provisions of section 47A(1)(c) read with sections 46(4)(i) and 56 of the BR Act.
