The 613th meeting of the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India was held today at New Delhi under the Chairmanship of Shri Sanjay Malhotra, Governor. The Board reviewed the global and domestic economic situation and outlook, including the challenges posed by geopolitical developments and global financial market volatility. The Board also passed a condolence resolution in memory of Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister, former Union Finance Minister and former Governor of the Bank.

The Reserve Bank of India has sanctioned the Scheme of Amalgamation of The Citizen Cooperative Bank Limited, Vasco-Da-Gama, Goa with TJSB Sahakari Bank Ltd. The Scheme has been sanctioned in exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section (4) of Section 44A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The Scheme will come into force with effect from February 10, 2025 (Monday). The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated February 04, 2025, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹8.30 lakh (Rupees Eight Lakh Thirty Thousand only) on Karur Vysya Bank Limited (the bank) for non-compliance with certain directions issued by RBI on ‘Loan System for Delivery of Bank Credit’. This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers conferred on RBI under the provisions of Section 47A(1)(c) read with Section 46(4)(i) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.
