The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated December 6, 2024, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹75,000/- (Rupees Seventy Five Thousand only) on The Udumalpet Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd., Tamil Nadu (the bank) for non-compliance with certain directions issued by RBI on ‘Loans and advances to directors, their relatives, and firms/concerns in which they are interested’ and ‘Exposure Norms and Statutory / Other Restrictions – UCBs’. This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers conferred on RBI under the provisions of Section 47A(1)(c) read with Sections 46(4)(i) and 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated December 6, 2024, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹1.00 lakh (Rupees One Lakh only) on The Pondicherry Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd., Puducherry (the bank) for non-compliance with specific directions issued by RBI under ‘Supervisory Action Framework (SAF)’ and certain directions issued by RBI on ‘Know Your Customer (KYC)’. This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers conferred on RBI under the provisions of Section 47A(1)(c) read with Sections 46(4)(i) and 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.
On a review of current and evolving liquidity conditions, it has been decided to conduct a Variable Rate Repo (VRR) auction on December 13, 2024, Friday, as under:

This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers conferred on RBI under the provisions of Section 47A(1)(c) read with Sections 46(4)(i) and 56 of the BR Act.

Shri Sanjay Malhotra, an Indian Administrative Service Officer of 1990 Batch Rajasthan Cadre, took over charge as the 26th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India effective December 11, 2024. Immediately prior to this appointment, Shri Malhotra was Secretary, Department of Revenue (DOR) in the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, before which Shri Malhotra held the post of Secretary in Department of Financial Services in the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
