RBI discusses the Evolution and Way Forward for Central Bank Statistics in its 18th Statistics Day Conference
Today, the Reserve Bank held its 18th Annual Statistics Day Conference with the theme ‘RBI Statistics@90’ as a part of the ‘National Statistics Day’ celebrations in the memory of late Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, who made pioneering contributions in laying the foundations of modern day official statistics in India. Professor Nilanjan Chatterjee, Bloomberg Distinguished Professor, Johns Hopkins University, delivered the P.C.Mahalanobis Memorial Lecture titled ‘Beyond the Sum: Personalised Health with Data Integration’. Professor Sonalde Desai, Distinguished Professor, University of Maryland and Centre Director, NCAER National Data Innovation Centre, delivered the keynote address on ‘Making Women Count: Building Gender Inclusive Data Systems’. Internal researchers presented the findings of three research studies on theoretical and applied statistics.
