It is hereby notified for information of the public that in exercise of powers vested in it under sub section (1) of Section 35A of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) vide Directive Ref. No. CO.DOS.SED.No.S370/45-11-001/2024-2025 dated April 15, 2024, has issued certain Directions to Sarvodaya Co-operative Bank Ltd., Mumbai, whereby, as from the close of business on April 15, 2024, the bank shall not, without prior approval of RBI in writing grant or renew any loans and advances, make any investment, incur any liability including borrowal of funds and acceptance of fresh deposits, disburse or agree to disburse any payment whether in discharge of its liabilities and obligations or otherwise, enter into any compromise or arrangement and sell, transfer or otherwise dispose of any of its properties or assets except as notified in the RBI Direction dated April 15, 2024, a copy of which is displayed on the bank's website / premises for perusal by interested members of the public. In particular, a sum not exceeding ₹15,000 (Rupees fifteen thousand only) of the total balance across all savings bank or current accounts or any other account of a depositor, may be allowed to be withdrawn subject to the conditions stated in the above RBI Directions.

In terms of GOI Notification F.No.4(25) - W&M/2017 dated October 06, 2017 (SGB 2017-18 Series III - Issue date October 16, 2017) on Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme, premature redemption of Gold Bond may be permitted after fifth year from the date of issue of such Gold Bond on the date on which interest is payable. Accordingly, the next due date of premature redemption of the above tranche shall be April 16, 2024.
In terms of GOI Notification F.No.4(25) - W&M/2017 dated October 06, 2017 (SGB 2017-18 Series III - Issue date October 16, 2017) on Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme, premature redemption of Gold Bond may be permitted after fifth year from the date of issue of such Gold Bond on the date on which interest is payable. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed, by an order dated March 30, 2024, a monetary penalty of ₹3.00 lakh (Rupees Three lakh only) on United Mercantile Urban Co-operative Bank Limited, Kanpur (the bank) for non-compliance direction issued under ‘Supervisory Action Framework (SAF) for Primary (Urban) Co-operative Banks (UCBs)’.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed, by an order dated March 30, 2024, a monetary penalty of ₹3.00 lakh (Rupees Three lakh only) on United Mercantile Urban Co-operative Bank Limited, Kanpur (the bank) for non-compliance direction issued under ‘Supervisory Action Framework (SAF) for Primary (Urban) Co-operative Banks (UCBs)’.

The Reserve Bank has received 13 applications to set up bank under the Guidelines for ‘on tap’ Licensing of Universal Banks and Small Finance Banks. The names of these applicants were given in the press releases on April 15, August 30, December 31, 2021, January 04, 2023 and January 08, 2024. The decision on nine of these applications was announced vide press releases on May 17, 2022 and July 04, 2023.
The Reserve Bank has received 13 applications to set up bank under the Guidelines for ‘on tap’ Licensing of Universal Banks and Small Finance Banks.
