Issue of Rs.50 notes in Ashoka Pillar design (old design) with capital letter 'B' inset in numbering panels
The Reserve Bank of India will shortly be issuing Rs.50 notes in Ashoka Pillar Design (old design) bearing the signature of Dr.Bimal Jalan, Governor with capital letter 'B' inset in both numbering panels. Except for this change, the Rs.50 notes to be issued now are similar to those issued earlier in this design. It has come to the notice of the Reserve Bank that certain newspapers have published news items with lists of series of Rs.500/- denomination notes purported to have been issued by the Reserve Bank of India with the instruction that notes in these series should not be accepted. Distribution of coins in exchange towards Ganesh Festival
