RBI appeals to Public to accept only Unstapled Notes
Some sections of the Print Media in their editions dated June 5, 2003, have carried stories on some difficulties and problems in, and plausible reasons, for non-implementation of the Reserve Bank of India’s Directive of November 7, 2001 regarding receipt and payment of cash only in unstapled notes. Facilities for Exchanging Soiled and Mutilated Notes
Members of public are hereby informed that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has authorized all branches of public sector banks and all currency chest branches of private sector banks to accept and exchange all types of soiled/mutilated notes of all denominations. Refund value of such notes in exchange is, however, paid as per RBI (note Refund) Rules, 1975. Issue of Rs.10 notes in Mahatma Gandhi Series with capital letter `T' inset in numbering panels
The Reserve Bank of India will shortly be issuing Rs.10 notes in Mahatma Gandhi Series with capital letter `T' inset in numbering panel bearing the signature of Dr. Bimal Jalan, Governor. Except for the change in inset letter, the design of Rs.10 notes to be issued now is similar in all respects to those issued earlier in Mahatma Gandhi Series. All Rs.10 denomination notes in Mahatma Gandhi Series issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender. P.V. S
