RBI to issue Rs.100 denomination banknotes with inset letter 'E'
The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue Rs.100 denomination banknotes with inset letter `E' in numbering panel in Mahatma Gandhi Series – 2005 bearing the signature of Dr. Y.V..Reddy, Governor. Except for the change in inset letter, the design of these notes to be issued now is similar in all respects to the banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi Series with additional/new security features issued in August 2005. Restrictive practices while accepting banknotes
Reserve Bank of India has been receiving complaints from the public regarding adoption of restrictive practices such as forcing the customers to note down their names on the banknotes, listing the note numbers on the bills submitted for payment insisting on undertaking while depositing higher denomination banknotes, etc., by certain public and private sector organizations/institutions thus causing avoidable harassment to the public.
