RBI to conduct variable rate Term Repos of ₹1,00,000 crores
As a pre-emptive measure to tide over any frictional liquidity requirements on account of dislocations due to COVID-19, the Reserve Bank of India has decided to conduct the following fine-tuning variable rate Repo auctions for ₹1,00,000 crores in two tranches as under: Sl. Results of 3-year Long Term Repo Operation (LTRO), March 18, 2020
Today, the Reserve Bank conducted long term repo operations (LTROs) for a notified amount of ₹ 25,000 crore with a 3-year tenor in pursuance of the announcement vide press release dated March 16, 2020. 2. The total bids received amounted to ₹ 27,096 crore, implying a bid to cover ratio (i.e., the amount of bids received relative to the notified amount) of 1.1. 3. On a review of current financial market conditions and taking into consideration the requirement of US Dollars in the market, it has been decided to undertake another 6-month US Dollar sell/buy swap auction to provide liquidity to the foreign exchange market. The auction will be multiple price based, i.e., successful bids will be accepted at their respective quoted premiums.
