The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated March 25, 2025, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹1.00 lakh (Rupees One lakh only) on Bagalkot District Central Co-operative Bank Ltd., Bagalkot, Karnataka (the bank) for contravention of provisions of Section 20 read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 (BR Act). Data on sectoral deployment of bank credit for the month of February 2025 collected from 41 select scheduled commercial banks, accounting for about 95 per cent of the total non-food credit deployed by all scheduled commercial banks, are set out in Statements I and II. On a year-on-year (y-o-y) basis, non-food bank credit as on the fortnight ended February 21, 2025 grew at 12.0 per cent as compared to 16.6 per cent for the corresponding fortnight of the previous year (February 23, 2024).

The Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP), a joint program of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB), undertakes a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of a country’s financial sector. Since September 2010 the exercise has become mandatory for jurisdictions with systemically important financial sectors. Currently, it is mandatory for 32 jurisdictions including India, every five years, and for another 15 jurisdictions every ten years. The Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP), a joint program of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB), undertakes a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of a country’s financial sector. Since September 2010 the exercise has become mandatory for jurisdictions with systemically important financial sectors. Currently, it is mandatory for 32 jurisdictions including India, every five years, and for another 15 jurisdictions every ten years. The Reserve Bank of India has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹36,30,000/- (Rupees Thirty-Six Lakhs Thirty Thousand only) on IDBI Bank Limited in exercise of powers vested in the Reserve Bank under the provisions of Section 11(3) of FEMA, 1999, for not undertaking due diligence while processing the inward remittances from a Foreign Currency Account opened by a constituent, resulting in contravention of Section 10 (4) of FEMA, 1999.
