Change in member of External Advisory Committee for evaluating applications of Small Finance Banks
It may be recalled that Reserve Bank of India announced the names of the members of the External Advisory Committee (EAC) for small finance banks vide its press release 2014-2015/1640 dated February 04, 2015 as under: Chairperson: Smt. RBI imposes penalty on Vananchal Gramin Bank for violation of Branch Licensing Guidelines
The Reserve Bank of India has imposed a penalty of ` 50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand only) on Vananchal Gramin Bank, Dumka, Jharkhand in exercise of powers vested in it under provisions of Section 47A read with Section 46 (4) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, for violation of Branch Licensing Guidelines. RBI approves ING Vysya Bank Ltd.- Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. Amalgamation
The Reserve Bank of India has sanctioned the Scheme of Amalgamation of ING Vysya Bank Ltd. with Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. The Scheme has been sanctioned in exercise of the powers contained in Sub-section (4) of Section 44A of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The Scheme will come into force with effect from April 1, 2015. All the branches of ING Vysya Bank Ltd. will function as branches of Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. with effect from April 1, 2015.Ajit PrasadAssistant Gen

The Reserve Bank of India today placed on its website the Discussion Paper (DP) on Large Exposures (LE) Framework and Enhancing Credit Supply through Market Mechanism. RBI signs Currency Swap Agreement with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka
The Reserve Bank of India today signed the Currency Swap Agreement with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka can make drawals of US Dollar or Euro in multiple tranches up to a maximum of US$ 400 million or its equivalent. This is expected to further economic co-operation between the two countries. The agreement is valid for a period of three years from the date of signing.
