New Ferritic Stainless Steel Coins of Rs. 5 denomination with the theme
"CONNECTIVITY AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY"
The Reserve Bank of India will shortly put into circulation new Ferritic Stainless Steel Coins of Rs.5 with the theme 'CONNECTIVITY AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY' The coins shall conform to the following dimension, design and composition, namely :
Designs: OBVERSE : The face of the coin is divided into three portions with two horizontal lines. The center portion shall bear the 'Lion Capitol' of Ashoka Pillar with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below. The top portion contains word "भारत" in Hindi and 'INDIA' in English and bottom portion contains the Year in International Numerals. REVERSE : The lower periphery of this face of the coin contains the two visual metaphors which depicts the smooth fluid mass representing the ceaseless flow of data/information in the ether. In the center, Denominational Value '5' in International Numerals and in upper periphery the word "रुपए" in Hindi and the word 'Rupees' in English. Security Edge for 5 Rupees The edge of the coin is security edged on periphery. The center of the edge contains a shallow groove with a design inside the two sections separated by blank spaces. This design consists of chain of beads in relief and each bead followed by one inclined line in relief. There shall be total 30 lines and 30 beads. The coin is a legal tender as provided in the Coinage Act, 1906. The existing Five Rupees Coins in circulation shall also continue to be legal tender. Ajit Prasad Press Release : 2007-2008/433 |
