Non Scheduled State Coops can meet SLR by March 31, 2017
On a review, it has been decided to calibrate the transition to the revised dispensation relating to the form and manner of maintenance of Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR) assets for Non-scheduled State cooperative banks (StCBs) and all Central cooperative banks (CCBs) (StCBs/CCBs). These banks have now been granted time up to March 31, 2017 for complying with the revised norms in a phased manner as below:
Pursuant to the enactment of the Banking Laws (Amendment) Act, 2012, giving powers to the Reserve Bank of India to specify the percentage of Cash reserve Ratio (CRR) for Non-scheduled State cooperative banks (StCBs) and all Central cooperative banks (CCBs) and the percentage of SLR as well as the form and manner of holding SLR by cooperative banks, it had been decided increase the CRR for Non-Scheduled StCBs and all CCBs by 100 basis points from 3.00 per cent to 4.00 per cent of their total net demand and time liabilities, on par with Scheduled StCBs, with effect from the fortnight beginning July 12, 2014. It had also been decided to prescribe the form and manner of maintenance of SLR assets for StCBs/CCBs. Accordingly, instructions had been issued in terms of circular RPCD.RCB.BC.No. 110/07.51.020/2013-14 dated June 5, 2014. The revised circular instructions issued in this regard to StCBs/CCBs are available on RBI website www.rbi.org.in Manjula Rattan Press Release : 2014-2015/145 |
