RBI and Banks to accept Tax on March 30
The Reserve Bank of India has, for the convenience of tax payers, made arrangements to receive direct taxes, that is, income tax, corporation tax, etc., on Tuesday, March 30, 2004. On that day, it will receive these payments in cash upto 2.30 p.m. and by cheques/instruments upto 3.30 p.m.
The Reserve Bank has also requested the bank branches authorised by income tax department to make necessary arrangements to accept payment of income tax dues in those states where March 30, 2004 has been declared a holiday. In Mumbai and Navi Mumbai alone, the income-tax department has authorised 844 computerised branches of public sector banks and private sector banks to accept payment of income-tax dues. Of these, 790 are public sector bank branches, 23 branches of HDFC Bank, 9 branches each of ICICI Bank and IDBI Bank and 13 branches of UTI Bank.
RBI, Mumbai/Navi Mumbai extend Working Hours to collect Taxes on March 31
The Mumbai and Navi Mumbai offices of the Reserve Bank will also remain open to receive tax payments upto 4.15 p.m. in cash and upto 6.30 p.m. for cheques/instruments on Wednesday, March 31, 2004.
The Reserve Bank of India has urged income-tax assesses to take advantage of these facilities and pay their income tax dues.
