New Ferritic Stainless Steel (FSS) Coin of Rs.5 – "Jagat Guru Sree Narayana Gurudev"
The Reserve Bank of India will shortly put into circulation new Ferritic Stainless Steel coins of Rs.5 issued by Government of India to commemorate "Jagat Guru Sree Narayana Gurudev". The coins shall conform to the following dimensions, designs and compositions namely: Denomination of the Coins Shape Weight & Outside diameter Metal Composition Five Rupees Circular with 23 mm diameter with Security edges. Weight – 6 gms. Ferritic Stainless Steel Chromium – 17% Iron

Collateral facility extended for Savings Bonds
Savings bonds can now be pledged or hypothecated or kept on lien in favour of scheduled banks. Such facility is available only for the loans to be availed of by the holders of the bonds and not in respect of the loans availed of by third parties. The Government of India has now amended the notifications relating to 7% Savings Bonds, 2002, 6.5% Savings Bonds, 2003 (Non-Taxable), and 8% Savings (Taxable) Bonds, 2003 schemes allowing for pledge or hypothecation or lien o

RBI Study on Courier/Postage Charges of Banks
The Reserve Bank of India has today placed on its website the details of courier/postage charges levied by banks for information to the public. It has been reported to the Reserve Bank of India that many banks charge for various services offered by them disproportionate to the cost incurred by them. Respect Your Banknotes : RBI appeals to Public
The Reserve Bank of India today appealed to members of public not to use banknotes for making garlands, decorating pandals and places of worship or for showering on personalities in social events, etc. Such actions deface the banknotes and shorten their life, the Reserve Bank stated and added that banknotes should be respected as they are a symbol of the Sovereign and public should not misuse them so that the life of banknotes is enhanced. RBI cautions Public against Fictitious Offers of Remitting Cheap Funds from Abroad
The Reserve Bank of India has advised members of public not to fall prey to fictitious offers for release of cheap funds claimed to have been remitted by overseas entities to banks in India / Reserve Bank of India. Members of public should also not make any remittance towards participation in such schemes/offers from unknown entities.
