Distribution of Coins : RBI reaches out to Public
The Reserve Bank of India will on September 14, 2001 make available coins up to Rs 800 to members of public at Union Bank of India, Individual Service branch, Kailash Jyoti Building, Dravasane Lane, Ghatkopar(East), Mumbai-400 077. The coins worth Rs 800 will be available in `Potlas' of 100 pieces each of Re 1, Rs.2 and 5. The facility at this branch will be available to members of public between 11.30a.m. to 2.30p.m. The Reserve Bank has extended this special facilit

RBI to issue new Rs.20/- notes in Mahatma Gandhi Series
The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue banknotes in the denomination of Rs.20 in the Mahatma Gandhi series bearing the Mahatma Gandhi portrait in the watermark. Salient Features : The size of this Rs.20/- note has been retained at 147mm (Length) x 63mm (Width). Issue of Rs.10 notes in Mahatma Gandhi Series with capital letter "L" inset in numbering panels
The Reserve Bank of India will shortly be issuing Rs.10 notes in Mahatma Gandhi Series bearing the signature of Dr. Bimal Jalan, Governor with capital letter "L" inset in both numbering panels. Reintroduction of Rs.5 note in the existing design without inset letter in the numbering panel
The Reserve Bank of India will be reintroducing the Rs. 5 notes in the existing design with the Ashoka Pillar watermark in the watermark window and the Ashoka Pillar emblem on the right side on the obverse. The reverse of the note depicts a farmer ploughing a field with a tractor. The colour scheme of the note, as in the existing design, is predominantly light green and mild pink.
