Issue of ` 1000 Banknotes with incorporation of Rupee symbol (`)
The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue ` 1000 denomination Banknotes incorporating "`" symbol, without inset letter, in the Mahatma Gandhi-2005 Series bearing the signature of Dr. D. Subbarao, Governor, Reserve Bank of India and the year of printing 2011 printed on the back of the Banknote. RBI to issue Non-Sequential Numbered Banknotes in Denomination of ` 500
With a view to enhancing operational efficiency and cost effectiveness in banknote printing at banknote presses, it has been decided to issue, to begin with, fresh banknotes of ` 500 denomination in packets, which may not necessarily all be sequentially numbered. This is consistent with international best practices. Packets of Banknotes in non-sequential number will, as usual, have 100 notes. The bands of the packets containing the banknotes in non-sequential number w

Coins of 25 paise and below will not be Legal Tender from June 30, 2011 : RBI appeals to Public to Exchange them upto June 29, 2011
Coins of denomination of 25 paise and below will cease to be legal tender from June 30, 2011. These will not be accepted for exchange at bank branches and RBI Issue Offices from June 30, 2011. The Reserve Bank of India has, therefore, appealed to the members of public to exchange these coins at the branches of banks maintaining small coin depots or at the offices of the Reserve Bank. The exchange facility at these bank branches or the Reserve Bank offices will be avai
