Financial Action Task Force (FATF) High risk and other monitored jurisdictions – June 12-13, 2025

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) vide public document ‘High-Risk Jurisdictions subject to a Call for Action’ - 13 June 2025, has called on its members and other jurisdictions to refer to the statement on Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Iran adopted in February 2020 which remains in effect. Further, Myanmar was added to the list of High-Risk Jurisdictions subject to a Call for Action in the October 2022 FATF plenary and FATF has called on its members and other jurisdictions to apply enhanced due diligence measures proportionate to the risk arising from Myanmar. When applying enhanced due diligence measures, countries have been advised to ensure that flows of funds for humanitarian assistance, legitimate NPO activity and remittances are not disrupted. The status of Myanmar in the list of countries subject to a call for action, remains unchanged.

Review of Citizen’s Charter of Reserve Bank of India

The various services offered by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to the entities regulated by it and to the citizens of the country were listed under two distinct heads viz. Timelines for Regulatory Approvals and Citizens’ Charter. Under Regulatory Approvals 133 services were made available, while the Citizens’ Charter had 58 services. A comprehensive review of the services offered by RBI has been undertaken and the timelines have been rationalised leading to reduction of time in 11 services. All services to the regulated entities and to the citizens have been subsumed under the Citizen’s Charter. The Citizen’s Charter now contains 204 services.

RBI Issues the Reserve Bank of India (Project Finance) Directions, 2025

The Reserve Bank had issued draft guidelines on ‘Prudential Framework for Income Recognition, Asset Classification and Provisioning pertaining to Advances - Projects Under Implementation’ on May 03, 2024, for stakeholder comments. The draft guidelines proposed an enabling framework for the regulated entities (REs) for financing project loans, while addressing the underlying risks.

Supervisory Data Quality Index for Scheduled Commercial Banks (March 2025)

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has created a Supervisory Data Quality Index (sDQI) that measures data quality in terms of the Accuracy, Timeliness, Completeness and Consistency in the submission of returns. The objective of sDQI is to assess the adherence to the principles enunciated in the Master Direction on Filing of Supervisory Returns 2024. The sDQI score of Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs) has improved in March 2025 as compared to March 2024.

Credit by Scheduled Commercial Banks – March 2025 (Annual BSR-1)

Today, the Reserve Bank released the web publication ‘Basic Statistical Return on Credit by Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs) in India – March 2025’ on its ‘Database on Indian Economy’ (DBIE) portal (https://data.rbi.org.in Homepage > Publications). The publication provides information on various characteristics of bank credit in India, based on data submitted by SCBs {including Regional Rural Banks (RRBs)} under the annual ‘Basic Statistical Return (BSR) – 1’ system, which collects information on type of account, organisation, occupation/activity and category of the borrower, district and population group of the place of utilisation of credit, rate of interest, credit limit and amount outstanding.
