RBI signs Special Currency Swap Agreement with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka
The Reserve Bank of India today signed a Special Currency Swap Agreement with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. Under the arrangement, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka can draw upto US$ 1. 1 billion for a maximum period of six months. This special arrangement is in addition to the existing Framework on Currency Swap Arrangement for the SAARC Member Countries. RBI releases Draft Guidelines on Net Stable Funding Ratio for Banks
The Reserve Bank of India today released on its website draft Guidelines on Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR) under Basel III Framework on Liquidity Standards for banks. It has requested for comments on these guidelines by email at the earliest, but not later than June 26, 2015. RBI advises banks to create awareness among their borrowers for hedging agricultural commodity price risk
The Reserve Bank of India today advised banks to encourage large agricultural borrowers such as agricultural commodity processors, traders, millers, aggregators, etc., to hedge their risks related to agricultural commodity prices. Banks provide a number of credit facilities to customers engaged in activities related to agriculture. Volatility in agricultural commodity prices may negatively impact such borrowers and the banks. The Reserve Bank of India has appealed to income tax assessees to remit their income tax dues sufficiently in advance of the due date. It has also stated that assessees can use alternate channels like select branches of agency banks or the facility of online payment of taxes offered by these banks. RBI advises Banks to appoint Internal Ombudsman
The Reserve Bank of India has advised all public sector banks and some private sector and foreign banks to appoint an internal ombudsman. The internal ombudsman would be designated Chief Customer Service Officer (CCSO), it has stated. The CCSO should not have worked in the bank in which he/she is appointed as CCSO.
