For the convenience of income tax assessees, the Income Tax department has authorised designated branches of Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Central Bank of India, Dena Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, State Bank of India and United Bank of India to accept payment of income tax dues. Accordingly, arrangements have been made for receipt of advance income tax at the designated branches of these banks.

The Reserve Bank of India has advised assessees to take advantage of these standing arrangements made for their convenience. In order to avoid inconvenience to the assessees of waiting in long queues and to avoid last minute rush at the Reserve Bank's counters, the Reserve Bank has also requested assessees in the mumbai city to arrange to deposit their income tax dues sufficiently in advance of the last date.
