The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had announced the withdrawal of ₹2000 denomination banknotes from circulation vide Press Release 2023-2024/257 dated May 19, 2023. The status of withdrawal of ₹2000 banknotes is periodically published by the RBI. The last press release in this regard was published on December 01, 2025.

Accordingly, the Reserve Bank has launched its podcast series, RBI Talks: Paisa to Policy, with the first episode titled "Demystifying KYC."

The amendment directions were aimed primarily at aligning risk weights with the actual risk characteristics of operational infrastructure projects thereby promoting better risk assessment and capital allocation.

Accordingly, the due date of premature redemption of the above tranche shall be on January 01, 2026.
In terms of GOI notification F.No.4(22)-B(W&M)/2018 dated October 08, 2018 (SGB 2018-19 Series-IV-Issue date January 01, 2019) on Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme, premature redemption of Gold Bond may be permitted after fifth year from the date of issue of such Gold Bond on the date on which interest is payable.
