Sectoral Deployment of Bank Credit - February 2012
Data on sectoral deployment of credit collected on a monthly basis from select 47 scheduled commercial banks accounting for about 95 per cent of the total non-food credit deployed by all scheduled commercial banks for the month of February 2012 are set out in Statements I and II. RBI Announces Reduction in the CRR
Monetary/Liquidity Measures It has been decided to: reduce the cash reserve ratio (CRR) of scheduled banks by 75 basis points from 5.5 per cent to 4.75 per cent of their net demand and time liabilities (NDTL) effective the fortnight beginning March 10, 2012. This reduction will inject around `480 billion of primary liquidity into the banking system. In order to mitigate tight liquidity conditions, the cash reserve ratio was reduced by 50 basis points in the Third Quar

RBI and 926 branches of Banks to accept Advance Income Tax
As many as 926 computerised branches of public and private sector banks will receive advance income tax in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. These arrangements have been made for the convenience of the income tax assesses. Of the 926 bank branches 862 branches are public sector bank branches, 35 HDFC bank branches, 10 ICICI bank branches and 19 AXIS bank branches. RBI raises Bank Rate as a Technical Adjustment
The Reserve Bank of India has decided to change the Bank Rate with immediate effect by realigning it with the Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate, which in turn is linked to the policy repo rate under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF). Accordingly, the Bank Rate shall be 9.5 per cent with effect from the close of business today. This should be viewed and understood as one-time technical adjustment to align the Bank Rate with the MSF rate rather than a change i
