RBI imposes monetary penalty on Citibank NA India
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated January 4, 2019 imposed a monetary penalty of ₹ 30 million on Citibank NA India (the bank) for deficiencies in compliance with the RBI instructions on ‘Fit and Proper’ criteria for directors of banks. Considering the importance of the MSMEs in the Indian economy, it is essential to understand the structural bottlenecks and factors affecting the performance of the MSMEs. NSDL Payments Bank Limited commences operations
NSDL Payments Bank Limited has commenced operations as a payments bank with effect from October 29, 2018. The Reserve Bank has issued a licence to the bank under Section 22 (1) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 to carry on the business of payments bank in India. National Securities Depository Limited, Mumbai was one of the 11 applicants which were issued in-principle approval for setting up a payments bank, as announced in the press release on August 19, 2015.
