Data on sectoral deployment of bank credit for the month of September 2024 collected from 41 select scheduled commercial banks, accounting for about 95 per cent of the total non-food credit deployed by all scheduled commercial banks, are set out in Statements I and II. On a year-on-year (y-o-y) basis, non-food bank credit in September 2024 grew at 14.4 per cent, as compared to 15.3 per cent a year ago.

Today, the Reserve Bank released the results of 2023-24 round of its survey on international trade in banking services (ITBS). This annual survey focuses on cross-border fund-based banking services (e.g., deposits, credit) as well as financial auxiliary services with explicit/implicit fees/commissions charged by foreign branches/ subsidiaries (including joint ventures) of Indian banks as well as foreign banks operating in India (details of the services are given in the Annex). The latest round of the survey covers 14 Indian banks having overseas branches/subsidiaries and 45 foreign banks having branches/subsidiaries in India.

The survey assesses business sentiment for the current quarter (Q3:2024-25) and expectations for the ensuing quarter (Q4:2024-25), based on qualitative responses on a set of indicators pertaining to demand conditions, financial conditions, employment conditions and the price situation. The outlook on key parameters for the two subsequent quarters (Q1:2025-26 and Q2:2025-26) are also covered.

Today, the Reserve Bank released the provisional results of the 2023-24 round of the annual census on foreign liabilities and assets (FLA) covering cross-border liabilities and assets of the entities {viz., companies, limited liability partnerships (LLPs), alternative investment funds (AIFs) and partnership firms} with inward/outward direct investment (DI). Out of the 41,653 entities which responded in the latest census, 37,407 reported foreign direct investment (FDI) and/or overseas direct investment (ODI) in their balance sheet for March 2024. Of these entities, 29,926 had also reported in the previous census round and 7,481 have newly reported in the current round. Over three-fourths of the companies that reported inward direct investment were subsidiaries of foreign companies (i.e., single foreign investor holding more than 50 per cent of total equity).

The Reserve Bank of India today placed on its website the Report of the Committee on MIBOR Benchmark (Chairperson: Shri R. Subramanian). The Committee was set up to review the Rupee interest rate benchmarks in the country, especially the usage of Mumbai Interbank Outright Rate (MIBOR) and to examine the need for transition to new benchmarks.

Today, the Reserve Bank released the results of the 2023-24 round of the survey of Foreign Liabilities and Assets of the Mutual Fund (MF) Companies1. The survey covered 45 Indian MF companies (list in Annex) and their Asset Management Companies (AMCs), which held/acquired foreign assets/ liabilities during 2023-24 and/or in the preceding years. The information on face value and market value of units held by non-residents, unit premium reserve, other foreign liabilities and assets of MF companies as at end of the financial year were collected under the survey. Data on sectoral deployment of bank credit for the month of June 20241 collected from 41 select scheduled commercial banks, accounting for about 95 per cent of the total non-food credit deployed by all scheduled commercial banks, are set out in Statements I and II. On a year-on-year (y-o-y) basis, non-food bank credit2 registered a growth of 13.9 per cent in June 20243 as compared with 16.3 per cent a year ago due to unfavourable base effect.
