Discussion Paper on Holding Companies

RBI and 974 branches of Banks to accept Advance Income Tax
As many as 974 computerised branches of public and private sector banks will receive advance income tax in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. These arrangements have been made for the convenience of the income tax assesses. Of the 974 bank branches 898 branches are public sector bank branches, 47 HDFC bank branches, 9 ICICI bank branches and 20 AXIS bank branches. RBI sanctions LKB Amalgamation with CBoP
The Reserve Bank of India has sanctioned the Scheme of Amalgamation of Lord Krishna Bank Ltd. with Centurion Bank of Punjab Ltd. The Scheme has been sanctioned in exercise of the powers contained in Sub-section (4) of Section 44A of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The Scheme will come into force with effect from August 29, 2007. In continuation of the Press Release 2006-2007/ 940 dated January 11, 2007 regarding constitution of the Committee on Financial Sector Assessment, it has been decided to appoint Dr. D.Subbarao, Finance Secretary, Government of India as the Co-chairman of the Committee on retirement of Shri Ashok Jha, the earlier Finance Secretary and Co-chairman of the Committee. Accordingly, the composition of the reconstituted Committee on Financial Sector Assessment is as follows:
