The Reserve Bank of India today released its Report on Trend and Progress of Banking in India 2001-02. The Report gives a detailed account of the performance of commercial banks, co-operative banks, financial institutions and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs). The Report also gives information on developments in the policy environment and in the regulatory and supervisory framework applicable to these financial entities. Pay Income-tax dues in advance at any designated bank branch : RBI
The Reserve Bank of India has advised income-tax assessees in the cities of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai to take advantage of paying their income tax dues at any of the designated bank branches. The income-tax department has authorised approximately 820 computerised branches of public sector banks in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai to accept payment of income-tax dues. Amalgamation of the Benares State Bank Ltd. with Bank of Baroda
On the application of the Reserve Bank of India under Sub-Section (1) of Section 45 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, the Central Government had made an Order of Moratorium in respect of the Benares State Bank Ltd. under Sub-Section (2) of the said Section with effect from the close of business on January 22, 2002 to July 21, 2002 (inclusive). RBI advances the date for reduction in the CRR: Reduction to be effective from next reporting fortnight beginning June 1, 2002
On a review of the present liquidity situation, the Reserve Bank of India has today announced advancement of the date for reduction in cash reserve ratio (CRR). Banks will have to maintain CRR at 5 per cent as against the present level of 5.5 per cent effective next reporting fortnight beginning June 1, 2002.
