The Reserve Bank of India has been regularly conducting Urban Consumer Confidence Survey (UCCS). The September 2025 round of the survey is being launched. The survey seeks qualitative responses from households, regarding their sentiments on general economic situation, employment scenario, price level, households’ income and spending. The survey is conducted regularly in 19 cities, viz., Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi and Thiruvananthapuram. The results of this survey provide useful inputs for monetary policy.
The Reserve Bank of India has been regularly conducting Inflation Expectations Survey of Households (IESH). The September 2025 round of the survey is being launched. The survey aims at capturing subjective assessments on price movements and inflation, based on their individual consumption baskets, across 19 cities, viz., Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi and Thiruvananthapuram. The survey seeks qualitative responses from households on price changes (general prices as well as prices of specific product groups) in the three months ahead as well as in the one year ahead period and quantitative responses on current, three months ahead and one year ahead inflation rates. The results of this survey provide useful inputs for monetary policy.
With a view to encourage writing originally in Hindi on the subjects of Economics/ Finance/Banking and general interest, Reserve Bank of India had invited entries for Inter-Bank Hindi Essay competition for the year 2025-26 vide press release dated 30 May 2025 in which Officers and Staff members (Other than Rajbhasha Officers and Translators) of Reserve Bank of India, Public Sector Banks and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) sponsored by them have participated. The result of the above-mentioned competition is attached herewith.

The 618th meeting of the Central Board of Directors of Reserve Bank of India was held today in Lucknow under the Chairmanship of Shri Sanjay Malhotra, Governor. In May 2016, the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 was amended to provide a statutory basis for the implementation of the flexible inflation targeting (FIT) framework in India. As per Section 45ZA of the RBI Act, 1934, the Central Government shall, in consultation with the Reserve Bank, determine the inflation target in terms of the CPI, once in every five years. The Central Government initially notified the inflation target with the tolerance band on August 5, 2016, for the period 2016-2021. In the first review conducted in March 2021, this target was retained for the subsequent five years till March 2026. A second review of the target is now due by end-March 2026.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated August 14, 2025, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹1 lakh (Rupees One Lakh only) on Ayodhya Finlease Limited (the company) for non-compliance with certain provisions of 'Master Direction - Non-Banking Financial Company – Non-Systemically Important Non-Deposit taking Company (Reserve Bank) Directions, 2016' read with ‘Reserve Bank of India (Non-Banking Financial Company - Scale Based Regulation) Directions, 2023’ issued by RBI. This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers conferred on RBI under the provisions of Section 58G(1)(b) read with Section 58B(5)(aa) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.

Today, the Reserve Bank released the results of the 2024-25 round of the survey of Foreign Liabilities and Assets of the Mutual Funds (MFs) . The survey covered 45 Indian MFs (list in Annex) and their Asset Management Companies (AMCs), which held/acquired foreign assets/ liabilities during 2024-25 and/or in the preceding years. The information on face value and market value of units held by non-residents, unit premium reserve, other foreign liabilities and assets of MFs as at end of the financial year were collected under the survey. The external assets and liabilities of their AMCs were taken from the annual census on foreign liabilities and assets (FLA) of direct investment companies for the reference period 2024-25.

Banks are engaged in a country-wide campaign, being conducted at Gram Panchayat level from July 1, 2025 to September 30, 2025, for saturation of Financial Inclusion (FI) schemes, as part of which, re-KYC of bank accounts is also being undertaken. The camps are also being utilized to create awareness about unclaimed deposits and to redress grievances. As on August 11, 2025, over 1.41 lakh camps have been held and re-KYC in over 35 lakh accounts has been completed. The progress in achievement of the expected outcomes is being monitored closely by the Government and Reserve Bank.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order August 07, 2025, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹2.50 lakh (Rupees Two Lakh Fifty Thousand only) on The Nalgonda District Co-operative Central Bank Ltd., Telangana (the bank) for contravention of provisions of Section 20 read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 (BR Act).
