Dear Sir,

Formation of new district in Tamil Nadu –
Assignment of Lead Bank Responsibility

The Revenue Department, Government of Tamil Nadu vide their Gazette Notification No.G.O(Ms)No.618 dated 24th October 2008 have advised about the formation of new district viz. Tiruppur carved out of the existing Coimbatore and Erode districts covering  Tiruppur, Avanashi, Palladam, Dharapuram, Kangeyam and Udumalaipettai  talukas, with effect from the date of Notification i.e. 24th October 2008.

2. It has been decided to assign the Lead Bank responsibility of the new Tiruppur district to Canara Bank.  The Lead Bank responsibility of existing Coimbatore and Erode districts will, however, continue to be with Canara Bank.

3. There is no change in the lead bank responsibilities of other districts in the State.
