Smt. Malvika Sinha
The Reserve Bank of India has appointed Smt. Malvika Sinha as Executive Director (ED) consequent upon appointment of Shri B P Kanungo as Deputy Governor on April 03, 2017. Smt. Malvika Sinha took charge on April 03, 2017.
As Executive Director Smt. Sinha will look after Foreign Exchange Department, Department of Government and Bank Accounts and Internal Debt Management Department.
Smt. Malvika Sinha holds a Masters Degree from University of Bombay and has done her Masters in Public Administration. She is also a Certificated Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers.
Smt. Sinha joined Reserve Bank in 1982 and as a career central banker served in the areas of regulation and supervision, foreign exchange and Government and Bank Accounts in the Bank. Prior to being promoted as ED,
Smt. Surekha Marandi
The Reserve Bank of India has appointed Smt. Surekha Marandi as Executive Director (ED) consequent upon superannuation of Shri U.S. Paliwal who retired on December 31, 2016. Smt. Marandi took charge on January 2, 2017.
As Executive Director Smt. Marandi will look after Consumer Education and Protection Department, Financial Inclusion and Development Department and Secretary’s Department. She has also served on the Boards of United Bank of India and Bank of Baroda.
Prior to being promoted as ED, Smt. Marandi was Principal Chief General Manager and Chief Vigilance Officer in the Reserve Bank. Smt. Marandi has, over a span of three decades, served in regulatory and supervisory, financial inclusion and development and human resource management areas in the Reserve Bank. Smt. Marandi holds a Master’s Degree from Jadhavpur University
Shri M. Rajeshwar Rao
The Reserve Bank of India has appointed Shri M. Rajeshwar Rao as the Executive Director consequent upon Shri G. Mahalingam taking voluntary retirement from the Reserve Bank. As Executive Director, Shri Rajeshwar Rao will look after Department of Statistics and Information Management, Financial Markets Operation Department and International Department. Prior to taking over as the Executive Director, Shri Rajeshwar Rao was the Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operations Department.
Shri Rajeshwar Rao has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Master of Business Administration from University of Cochin. He is also a Certificated Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers.
Shri Rajeshwar Rao joined the Reserve Bank in 1984 and as career central banker has exposure in various aspects of central bank functioning. He has previously held charge of the Risk Monitoring Department. He has also worked as the Banking Ombudsman, New Delhi and in the Reserve Bank’s regional offices at Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai and New Delhi.
Shri Sudarshan Sen
Shri Sudarshan Sen has taken over as the new Executive Director at the Reserve Bank of India today. He will look after Department of Banking Regulation, Department of Co-operative Banking Regulation and Department of Non-Banking Regulation.
Shri Sen, a career central banker who has long association with bank supervision and regulation, was in charge of the Department of Banking Regulation before taking over as Executive Director. He has also been Regional Director of Ahmedabad office of the Reserve Bank.
Shri Sudarshan Sen holds an MBA in International Banking and Finance from the University of Birmingham, UK. He also holds a master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Delhi.
Shri B.P. Kanungo
Shri B. P. Kanungo has taken over as the new Executive Director at the Reserve Bank of India today. He will look after Foreign Exchange Department, Department of Government and Bank Accounts and Internal Debt Management Department.
A career central banker, Shri Kanungo was in charge of Foreign Exchange Department before taking over as Executive Director. Earlier, he has also held positions of Regional Director at Jaipur and Kolkata Regional Offices of the Reserve Bank and has been the Banking Ombudsman for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Shri B. P. Kanungo, a post graduate in Arts, is a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers. He also holds a degree in Law (LLB).
Shri Deepak Singhal
Shri Deepak Singhal has taken over as the new Executive Director at the Reserve Bank of India today, November 2, 2015. He will look after Central Security Cell, Corporate Strategy and Budget Department, Department of Corporate Services, Human Resource Management Department (including HR Operations Unit), Rajbhasha Department and Right to Information Act Division.
Shri K. K. Vohra, Executive Director, who was earlier looking after these Departments will now look after the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC).
The portfolios of other Executive Directors remain unchanged.
Prior to his appointment as Executive Director, Shri Deepak Singhal was the Regional Director in-charge of Reserve Bank of India, New Delhi. He has also earlier headed Department of Banking Operations and Development, Human Resource Development Department and Premises Department at Central Office of Reserve Bank of India and Reserve Bank of India Office at Belapur, Navi Mumbai.
Shri Deepak Singhal holds a Master degree in Management and is a Certificated Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers. He graduated from Allahabad University with Economics as a subject of study.
Smt. Meena Hemchandra
Smt. Meena Hemchandra has taken over as the new Executive Director at the Reserve Bank of India today. She will look after Department of Banking Supervision, Department of Co-operative Banking Supervision and Department of Non-Banking Supervision.
Shri Chandan Sinha, Executive Director who was earlier looking after these Departments will now look after Department of Information Technology, Department of Payment and Settlement Systems, Foreign Exchange Department and Financial Markets Regulation Department (including Market Intelligence).
The portfolios of other Executive Directors remain unchanged.
Prior to her appointment as Executive Director, Smt. Hemchandra was in charge of Department of Banking Supervision. She has also been the Principal of the Reserve Bank’s College of Agricultural Banking, Pune. Her earlier experience also includes Department of External Investment and Operations that manages the country’s reserves and Foreign Exchange Department.
A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) from the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI), Smt. Hemchandra also holds a post graduate degree in Economics.

Dr. Deepali Pant Joshi
Dr. Deepali Pant Joshi has taken over as the new Executive Director at the Reserve Bank of India today. She will look after Customer Service Department and Rural Planning and Credit Department. Dr. Joshi will also be the Alternate Appellate Authority under the Right to Information Act.
Prior to her appointment as Executive Director, Dr. Joshi was the Regional Director of Rajasthan.
A doctorate in political economy of development of South and South East Asia 1975-1980 from University of Allahabad, Dr. Joshi also holds degrees in law and management. She has written extensively on rural credit and financial inclusion.
Shri Jasbir Singh
Shri Jasbir Singh assumed charge as Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India with effect from August 13, 2012. As Executive Director, Shri Jasbir Singh is looking after the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation.
Prior to his appointment as Executive Director, Shri Jasbir Singh was the Regional Director of the Reserve Bank's Chandigarh office.
Shri Singh has a post-graduate degree (M.Sc.), holds a Diploma in Banking and Finance (DBF) and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).
Shri G. Padmanabhan
Shri G. Padmanabhan assumed charge as Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India today. As Executive Director, Shri Padmanabhan will look after Department of Information and Technology, Department of Payment and Settlement Systems and Foreign Exchange Department.
Prior to his appointment as Executive Director,Shri Padmanabhan was heading the Department of Payment & Settlement Systems in the Bank since March 2005.
He is a post graduate in Economics (First Class- First) from the University of Kerala and an MBA (International Banking and Finance) from the Birmingham University, UK
Shri P. Vijaya Bhaskar
Shri P. Vijaya Bhaskar assumed charge as Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India on June 13, 2011. As Executive Director, Shri Bhaskar will look after Central Security Cell, Department of Banking Supervision and Department of Non-Banking Supervision.
Prior to his appointment as Executive Director, Shri Bhaskar was the Regional Director of Karnataka.
Shri Bhaskar holds a Masters Degree in Commerce, Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management, Pragya and CAIIB.

Prior to his appointment as Executive Director, Shri Bhaskar was the Regional Director of Karnataka.

Shri R. Gandhi
Shri R. Gandhi, assumed charge as Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India today. As Executive Director, Shri Gandhi will look after Department of Banking Operations and Development, Department of Administration and Personnel Management (including Rajbhasha), Human Resources Development Department and Department of Information Technology.
Prior to his appointment as Executive Director, Shri Gandhi was in charge of Department of Currency Management. Joining the Reserve Bank of India in 1980, Shri Gandhi has been in charge of the Reserve Bank's Hyderabad and Delhi offices and the Department of Information Technology. He also held charge of the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT) as the Director for a brief period.
Shri Gandhi possesses a Masters Degree in Economics, is a certified member of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF), post graduate certificates in MIS, System Programming and Capital Markets.
Shri C. Krishnan retired as Executive Director from the Reserve Bank on February 28, 2011.
Shri S. Karuppasamy
Shri S. Karuppasamy, assumed charge as Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India today. As Executive Director, Shri Karuppasamy will look after Department of Expenditure and Budgetary Control, Department of Information Technology, Legal Department and Urban Banks Department.
Shri Karuppasamy was Regional Director of the Reserve Bank’s Kolkata office prior to taking charge as Executive Director. Shri Karuppasamy has also headed two Central Office departments, namely, Department of Banking Supervision and Urban Banks Department.
Joining the Reserve Bank of India in 1975, Shri Karuppasamy has worked in various departments in different capacities. These include, Issue Department, Department of Economic Analysis and Policy, Banking Department, Agricultural Credit Department, Rural Planning and Credit Department, Department of Banking Operations and Development and Urban Banks Department. He has also worked in various regional offices of the Reserve Bank. He has been a Member Faculty in College of Agricultural Banking, Pune and has also been the Principal of the Reserve Bank’s Staff Training College, Chennai.
Shri Karuppasamy has also been associated with working groups in certain areas, such as, High Power Committee on Urban Cooperative Banks, Rating Framework for Urban Cooperative Banks, Cross Border Supervision and Integrated System of Alert.
Shri Karuppasamy is a post graduate in Economics, is a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers, has a Post Graduate Diploma in Bank Management (NIBM) and is a Pragya.
As Regional Director, Shri Karuppasamy was an RBI Nominee Director on the Board of Indian Bank.
