RBI to issue ₹100 Banknotes with incorporation of ascending size of Numerals in the number panels, bleed lines and enlarged identification mark
As a part of its endeavor to continually improve design/security features of the banknotes and to deter counterfeiting activities, Reserve Bank of India recently introduced bank notes in ₹ 100, 500 and 1000 denominations with ascending size of numerals in number panels. Pre-2005 Banknotes can be exchanged upto June 30, 2016; in Identified Bank Branches and Issue Offices of RBI

RBI denies Message on Currency Notes circulating on Social Media
The Reserve Bank of India has today denied having issued a communication circulating on social media alerting members of public that banks will not accept currency notes with scribbling on them from January 1, 2016. The Reserve Bank has reiterated that all currency notes issued by it are legal tender and banks and members can freely and without fear accept them in exchange for goods and services. It has been brought to the notice of Reserve Bank of India that members of public and institutions write number, name or messages, etc. on the watermark window of banknotes, thus defacing the banknotes. The watermark window has an important security feature which distinguishes it from a counterfeit note. Any defacement on the window will not allow the common man to identify one of the features of a genuine note. The public is, therefore, requested to refrain from doin

RBI extends the Date for Withdrawal of Pre-2005 Series Banknotes
The Reserve Bank of India has extended the date for the public to exchange their pre-2005 banknotes till December 31, 2015. It had, in December 2014, set the last date for public to exchange these notes as June 30, 2015.
